The weekend after my birthday Emily, my mum, the dogs and I all went away to St Ives for a week. One of our old next door neighbours owns a house right in the heart of the town by the sea and she rents it out to friends. Normally because we have dogs we go out of season when we know there are fewer restrictions for taking the dogs on the beaches, but we had been thinking of going camping or something for a week around my birthday and the house suddenly became available so we jumped at the opportunity!
Unfortunately the weather in early June wasn’t quite what we would have hoped, so in many ways it was no better than when we usually go at the end of the year (though it’s been a few years since we last visited anyway)! However it meant we didn’t have to worry about the dogs getting too hot etc. so it wasn’t all bad. Of course little did we know that someone on the council must have a vendetta against dogs as the day after we arrived we learnt that the beaches we would normally be able to take the dogs onto before 8am and after 7pm were now under 24 hour bans between Easter and October. I won’t go into how angry this made us (and no doubt the many dog owners in St Ives) but suffice it to say this may well be our last visit there because of how dog-unfriendly it is run. Shame on the council is all I can say.
We did however enjoy a few days out, first to The Eden Project, then to The Lost Gardens of Heligan, as well as Paradise Park, so I thought I would share some photos from my Flickr set of what we got up to.
